Things to do

Wai Matangi Place is a quiet cul-de-sac with a combination of permanent residents and holiday homes. A dog friendly area, surrounded by reserves and playgrounds, tennis, basketball courts and disc golf, and many nearby bush tracks for the avid walker or mountain biker.  Walking distance to the stunning Lake Taupo and the Motuoapa marina is perfect for all water enthusiasts, also being central to many top trout fishing spots for the keen fly fisherman. You won’t be short on things to do! 

A scenic 40 minute drive will get you to the National Park and the popular Tongariro Alpine Crossing with the neighbouring Mount Ruapehu ski fields.  

Handy to the award winning restaurant Hare & Copper, the local Licorice cafe, and just a 10 minute drive to Turangi township for all your amenities.  And of course, Taupo itself, being only a 30 minute drive away, offers plenty of activities & eateries to keep everyone happy!  Being so central to many attractions, 10 @ Wai Matangi has you covered, no matter what time of year it is.

The Space

The main part of the house is a spacious, open plan dining and lounge area with a modern kitchen and generously heated by a free-standing fireplace or air conditioning for those hotter months.

The main bedroom is just off from the lounge, containing a queen bed, ensuite and large walk-in wardrobe, and opens out on to the wrap-around deck. The hallway leads to the second bedroom where on offer is 2 king single beds and a wardrobe, with a neighbouring bathroom containing a shower, toilet and hand basin.

Access from the garage or decks is the third bedroom, containing its own self-contained kitchenette, spacious lounge, queen size bed, ensuite and large walk-in wardrobe, offering space and privacy again.  This self-contained unit is available to book separately, which is suitable for 1-2 guests, giving you a cheaper option.  Rest assured you will be the only guests staying at the property if you choose to book just this unit, as the remaining part of the house will not be available. 

Adjoining outdoor decks and BBQ entertaining areas, double glazing throughout to keep you toasty warm in the winter, a very large 2 car garage with full laundry facilities and ample outside parking for that boat or trailer.  The section has a large, fully fenced grass back yard to keep those pooches happy.

Children of all ages are welcome. Under 5’s stay for free. Please note at this stage no cribs or portable cots are available.

Full payment must be made by bank deposit, one day prior to arrival. Payment must be cleared before checking in. Bank details will be emailed to you. 

No visitors allowed unless prior arrangement has been approved with the host.

Check in is 3pm onwards. Check out is 10am, unless prior arrangement has been made with the host. Please advise an approximate time of arrival in advance.

Self check in: The keypad number and instructions will be sent to you the morning of your arrival.

Maximum number of dogs: 3. $10 per dog / per stay. This covers the extra cleaning costs eg dog hair, smear marks on windows. Owners are responsible at all times to have their dog/s respect the house and furniture. No dogs allowed on the furniture and beds. All dog poop must be picked up before your departure. Please feel free to use the bucket next to the wooden recycling box. I am happy to dispose of the contents. Any damage, stains, extra cleaning caused by dog/s will be at the owners cost.

Verification: Verification of identity is required. On booking, a phone number, email address and proof of identification (eg drivers licence, current passport) will be required to be emailed through. You must be 18 years and over to make a booking and anyone under the age of 18, must be staying with an adult. 

House Rules: All guests must follow

  • No parties, events or disruptive behaviour is permitted.
  • No smoking, vaping, e-cigarettes allowed in or outside this property. This is a smoke free zone.
  • Quiet hours are between 12.00am and 6am daily.
  • No commercial photography and filming permitted.
  • ALL external doors must be locked on your departure. All windows to be closed.
  • Extra keys/garage door remotes to be left on the kitchen bench on departure.
  • Guests must report to the host if anything has been damaged, broken or misplaced before departing. The guest/s will be responsible for the costs associated with any repairs or replacement/s work carried out by the host.  This includes extra cleaning costs, stains on carpets that require a professional clean, all damage to the interior and exterior of the whole house/property, damage to appliances and furniture, unacceptable damage to linen and any other intentional damage that has occurred during the guest/s stay.
  • All guests must leave the house in a reasonable clean and tidy state on departure. Dirty dishes are to be placed in the dishwasher.

Cancellation Policy

Guests can cancel until 48 hours before check-in for a full refund. If a payment has been made in this period, a complete refund will be made via bank transfer into your nominated bank account.

If you cancel after the above period, or during the duration of your stay, you will be charged the full rate of the booking.
